Winter, I love you even when I hate you

It is December already. Christmas is in under a month and it is safe to say that winter is here. But I shouldn't say that, shouldn't have said it weeks ago when we had our first snow fall. Winter is here. It is dark when we go to work and dark when we come home from work. It triggers something that makes me want to retreat to a soft, warm place for the next four months. A place with lots of sunlight, chocolate and colorful makeup.

I hate the cold. There is not enough fabrics in this house to keep me warm during Norwegian winters. I should just stay inside at all times, but we all know that's not happening. Winter is actually very beautiful, when the snow have covered the ground as a white blanket and the world looks so calm and quiet (and I am inside under an actual blanket sipping on a hot beverage). Then winter is fabulous! But right now I have a cold and am dreading the fact that in the morning I'll have to get up early for yet an other encounter with our coldest, darkest season.

The house is slowly starting to look like a home! And it should because our time is running out. We are counting the days until our little puppy is coming home. Our little Leo. That's what we decided to call him - Leo.

We won't have the money to finish my walk-in closet slash makeup room the way I want any time soon though. That's a bummer, but hopefully we have the resources next year and I'll manage to make it some how cosy until then. Atleast I can't wait to use my makeup desk again! I have been living almost makeup-less the past year with the Too faced - Naked Eye palette as my only eyeshadow palette. I love that palette though, just miss my other ones. And blogging about them.

Today is all about preparations! Preparing are house for becoming a home. Raven and I have just enjoyed a pancake breakfast and are soon ready to run out the door. We have so many errands to run today, I love it!

But before I leave I actually just wanted to say that the picture in my last post was the very last picture you'll see in front of our fabulous vinyl wall. The wall that I have used for my outfit pictures for over a year now has been taken down. I am so ready for these changes now! But it may not be the last you see of the vinyls, they are coming with us.

Between the sheets

Today I spent my morning in bed looking for furniture on my new computer. My shopping cart at IKEA is so full right now, and yes, I know I can't have (or afford) it all! But gathering inspiration is no crime, and I just can't wait to decorate our house!

 I also needed the time to get to know my new computer. It has Windows 8 which is so comfusing both for me and Raven, but I am thinking about giving it a chance. I just figured out how to download apps for photo editing and now I have to learn how to use them.

The start of something new

Last week my computer died and so much has happened since then! This one thing I have actually wanted to tell you for a while, but I wanted to wait until last Friday when we got our keys. Keys to our house. The house that Raven and I bought. The house that we now own. OUR HOUSE! I am so excited, we both are. Can't wait to move in, to decorate every single room and to puppy proof them.

Yes, puppy proof! Because on saturday Raven and I went to choose a Jack Russel Terrier puppy that will be joining us in our house by the end of the month. He is the cutest thing, you are all going to love him. Now we have to try to agree on a name for our little baby. And of course try to agree on the decorations in our house. The house that we own. That's awesome!

Oh, and I have a new computer now.

Think a little less, Live a little more

Today I had my final exam at Tango Akademiet and can now call myself a skin care and spa therapist! I didn't realize the fact that I was done until I sat on my bicycle (yes, I bought one!) on the way home from school today, and it just slapped me in the face. After that I couldn't stop smiling, I'm so happy! It has been a long year of hard work, but now it feels like it went by so fast. So much has happened in that one year, mostly in school, but also with work, friendships, family and our relationship. The only thing where there hasn't happened anything is here on the blog! But hopefully that is going to change now. I've missed getting dolled up, taking photos, writing and sharing, and now I have time for it again!

But first I'm going to enjoy the fabulous weather and celebrate my graduation!

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year

The holiday celebrations last year  was very different from what I am used to. My mom, step dad and little brother went to spend the holidays in The Philippines, leaving my big brother, little sister and myself at home in Norway. We are old enough to take care of ourselves of course, but it is so weird not to spend Christmas Eve and New Years Eve at my moms house like we've done every year until now. Well, last year is an exception because my father got very sick and I stayed with him in the hospital on Christmas, and then I got sick on New Years Eve. Not cool.



Christmas was celebrated in the cabin with Ravens parents, his brother and my brother. That is where Raven is used to spending his Christmas Holiday. It is nice to be included in their holiday traditions, which are very different from ours. Simpler. My mom puts up decorations, lights and the three very early in December, but Ravens parents decorates the day before Christmas Eve.



New Years Eve we celebrated with my cousin and her family. We used to celebrate together when we where younger, but now that she has her own family we have spent holidays apart the last few years. It was lots of fun to get to celebrate with them! We also had the beautiful doberman, Abby, with us during the whole vacation so she got to meet my cousins dog on NYE. She is such a diva, but eventually they went along just fine. So I guess that was my holiday update. Today was back to school, back to reality.

Talk that talk

I can't believe Halloween is over and I didn't post one single makeup look before the big weekend! I'll show you the two makeup looks I wore this year tomorrow, or you can see them on instagram (jeanettemarie) if you can't wait til then. Since the last time I posted my days have been so full! So just to keep you up to date on my oh so interesting life I'll tell you the top events:
My cave is complete! I have a beautiful makeup station, lots of pillows in my bed and mirrors everywhere on the walls. It looks so good I might even clean it one day so you can see it!
I finished the course with The Body Shop and can now call myself a Makeup Expert in their makeup!
I bought new makeup (as always) and some other new stuff. Forever a shopoholic!
I purchased three lipsticks and a lip liner from the Rihanna collection from Mac because I had to have them! Clumsy as I am I actually managed to loose my favourite of those lipsticks only three days after I got them! It is actually the one I am wearing on the picture below. The first and last time I wore it. Ah.. How is that possible!? So if anyone wants to sell the Talk that talk lipstick from Mac I'll pay double the retail price!
As you can see on the picture below I now have an undercut (again). And, yes, Rihanna might have had a say in that too.
As far as school goes I am pleased with my choice. Not everything is equally interesting, but I am even more sure now that I want to work with beauty. Makeup is a big motivator, but I have now also discovered manicure/pedicure, waxing and so many other fun (and some not so fun) beauty care treatments!

I'd rather spend my days with you

Wow, it's been such a long time since my last post! So many things have happened since then. This post is not going to be long, I just wanted to show my face and tell you that I am still here! I hoped to have more time for my blog after I got settled in the new house, but as a full time student and a full time worker everything is taking time. I just got a bed three days ago, and still don't have drawers in my room. I promised to show you how I live, and I will, but my place is not ready for pictures yet.
I knew this year was going to be tough, but I really did not have any idea how tough!



I do have some good news though, I had a collaboration with a model and a photographer a few weeks back and I promise to show you the pictures right away when we get them! I am also planning a Halloween party with my girls and can't wait to do sfx makeup again!

What do you miss the most?

Summer

I must admit I am such a lazy blogger in the summer, especially with the great weather we are having these days. In a country like Norway you really come to appreciate the times with sunny days and warm summer nights. The days are longer, lighter and my mood is brighter. I've worked up a tan, caught up on my reading and simply can not wait for my vacation and the Roskilde Festival. But before that I have decided to enjoy every hour of spare time, every sunny moment and every sip of drinks under the open summer night sky. Summer. It must be my favorite word in the world. And of course my favorite season of the year.

Curly Girly Gorgeous

Today I actually curled my hair before work and I did my makeup clean, pink and girly. Curly, girly, gorgeous! I really felt gorgeous and even smiled when I got out of the house to see that there was a storm outside. The sun was shining, but the wind was so strong. It totally blew my curls out, but I kept on smiling. I've felt so good and smiled all day long. I love days like this when I am just happy for no reason!

What a day! Today I have done ten makeup looks on four of my friends and had photographer Dag Frogner photograph them. It was a makeup photoshoot in connection with my TBS Makeup Expert Program. I had so much fun and I think the other girls did too. They were great! I am so thankful that they were there for me today, and offcourse the photographer too. Thank you, all of you. You are truly awesome!

Right now I am just so tired and have totally parked myself on the sofa with "How do you know" on the tv. So I thought I'd post a picture of my swatching tissue from yesterday. I swatched 5 lipsticks and with lipstick I always swatch on my lips and the result is a colourful tissue like this at the end of the day. Can't wait to show you some of these!

No time to beat

The weekend is finally here and I am fully booked. On weeks like this I keep longing for days like the one when this picture was taken. We had no worries that day. No time to beat. Nowhere to be.

Waiting as my heart drops

It is still snowing like crazy here. Bah. On days like this I would usually stay in and do some makeup looks, swatches, just hang out in my makeup room and organize or take out my camera and shoot, but today I am not motivated for that at all. My skin is just so blemished right now and it has been since monday. I curse all the candy I ate on saturday and sunday!

So this week I have been drinking lots of water and exercised every day, and that is huge considering I am so lazy I usually just exercise two - three times a month. But after looking at so many bikinis, dresses and summer clothes (on extremely fit people) I do get a little affected. I guess it's a good thing though, because it does motivate me to work out! So I'm going to work out today too and then maybe show you some new buys I did last week. I have been browsing webshops all morning too and I'll show you some amazing leggings later on that will be mine when my salery ticks in!

I can't bear the silent ringing in my skull

Yesterday I decided to make pizza for Raven before he came home from a moviedate so my favourites post is not done yet. I'm going to stop writing about it now and just post it when I'm done with it already! Today I'm wearing pink lipstick and getting ready for a day at The Body Shop, Down Town. I'm still doing makeovers so visit me if you want one!

Walking on Water

I thought I'd share some photos of our holiday before I start writing down my favourites for March. Lately I have written mostly about myself so I hope to get back on track with makeup looks again soon!












This weekend we have been walking on water in Risør. The entire lake had a massive lid of  ice on top that we could walk on. People also drove snow scooters there or fished through the ice. I think it is so fascinating! On the last picture you can see a small part of the lake, all that white is ice now and water in the summer. On saturday we went into the city Arendal for dinner and bowling. It was a lovely city with a compact city core and kafé shops on the harbor. I imagine it is beautiful there in the summer. I tried out their local beer called Arendals which was very good. I didn't even know they had their own beer. Today my vacation is over. I am going to work in a few hours. I don't want it to end, not yet! But we never do want vacations to end, do we?

Happy Easter!

The easter holiday is here and I have a 4-day vacation, woho! Today we are going to meet some friends for a café date before we are going to the cabin with Ravens parents. It's relaxation-time! I don't think there is internet there so I won't be blogging, but I am bringing the camera and hope to take some photos on long easter walks with my boyfriend. Hope the weather will stay as nice as it has been the last couple of days. Maybe I'll even get a little tan during the weekend!

That just makes me smile

I've had such a great and busy day at work today! On days like this it is fun to be at work and I have lots of energy at the end of my shift. The days goes by so much faster when there are many people in the store to shop so I have all the amazing customers to thank! I also have to thank the beautiful Ezra who has helped me with my assignment in the Makeup Expert Program and been a model for me two times now. You are an angel! Right now it is Paradise Hotel with my boyfriend in the sofa. He has easter break this week so he has cleaned the appartment today, such a good boy. Hihi.

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known

Today I have been at a studio with a local photographer taking some pictures that he will use in his portfolio. We took beautiful portrait photos, I can't wait to get them! I am waiting for photos from two photoshoots with different photographers now and I am just so excited to see the results of both of them.

At home it is suddenly very calm and quiet because Ravens best friend came and picked up her dog. Feels a little empty, but at least we almost have enough furr on our sofa to make a new puppy! Yes, we have got to get this thing vaccumed. But that can wait, first we are going to a café with friends that have come home for easter break.
