Camp Grønn at Roskilde Festival'13

Before I tell you a little bit about our camp I have to tell you something that happened this weekend. I met a fellow blogger named Aurora, out on town after a few drinks of course. She was supercute! It is always fun to meet people with blogs you read or that you know read your blog (does not happen often). Check out her blog!

This was my third year at Roskilde and also my third year with the awesome gang of Camp Grønn. Grønn means green in Norwegian (and also Danish and Swedish) and green is the colour of our bar/sound system which is a very important asset to our camp.

I have come to really like our camp. There are so many different personalities and some have such crazy imaginations. This year one of the guys came up with the idea that we should take a picture of our crotches in front of the Orange Stage and get it printed on a t-shirt for the birthday boy. And we all agreed that it was a good idea so we did! Haha, best t-shirt ever.

We also did bury a time capsule because some of the guys wanted to dig a hole in the ground. It was actually going to be a gipsy trap of some kind, I think it is best that it didn't turn out that way.

The founders of our camp have been thinking about making a fond for the camp where we all can put in a few bucks when we have some to spare. In this way it would be easier to improve our sound system and if anyone lacks some money for the ticket we could use the fond. After a few jokes we concluded that the fond would be used to treat girls with tickets to get more girls in our camp. This year we were only two girls in the camp, but suddenly one day another girl joined us. She was only there for a few concerts, but it is always nice with some extra estrogen.

As you all know I participated in a wedding at this years festival, and I would never have gotten that chance if I wasn't in our camp. Well, then I probably wouldn't be at Roskilde at all I guess. But I met the bride and groom through our camp because we have linked up and partied with their camp, Coffin Camp, a few times. One of this years parties, the wedding party, was insane!

We had lots of awesome parties with our green bar. Sometimes we link up with other sound systems like the coffin and other times we just take our bar out for a ride around the camp area. Because our sound system is also a bar it goes without saying, I guess, that we also mix our drinks on it and keep our beer in it. But this bar also works as a stage for whoever wants to dance on it (like me). Now it has also become a thing that you need to undress to dance on the bar. We had no naked people this year, but the bar has seen a few of those and a lot of people in their underwear. And of course one of our guys in his pj's.

I have met so many amazing people by living in our camp. I really have made some good friends and I am looking forward to camping with them all again. And to see if any new people joins us.

What happens at Roskilde Only happens at Roskilde

As always after I travel I got sick when we got home from the Roskilde Festival. Just a cold, but I am still struggling with the coughs, and two people other people were sick at work the past week so I have been working a lot. That's why it has been so quiet in here, but I need the money because on Friday Raven and I leave for Alabama! We're visiting some of his relatives before we travel on to Hawaii. This summer is going to be so awesome!

I still haven't posted that many pictures from the Roskilde Festival so I thought I'd do that now. This year the festival feeling didn't come before a few days into the festival week. The weather was so grey and shifting the first 3 days with lots of wind and occasional rain, but eventually the sun came through and kept shining. That's when Roskilde really started for me and when she did it was better than ever. That orange feeling filled me up so good I still can't let it go. For the first of my three times on the Roskilde Festival I missed her already the day I came home, and still do.

One of the things I miss the most is the Strawberry Daiquiris at the Gringo Bar. They are just divine, I could drink those all day. It's funny how we drink beer like it is water, cider like it is lemonade and Coca Cola is wasted unless you mix some rum in it. We are constantly under the influence of alcohol, but never hungover. The words "too drunk" is not a term at Roskilde, it is just an overdose of that overwhelming orange feeling.

I am not saying the orange feeling only comes with alcohol! It is a mix of feeling free to put phones, watches, makeup and worries away. Like we all belong there among all the tents, the gipsys and other people that are there for the same reason as you are, too have fun. It is the smiling, dancing and singing Danes everywhere to music that is constantly playing in the neighbor camps. Of course it might also be the fact that you are a bit tipsy most of the time.

The feeling of freedom is the most dominating in Roskilde. I can not think of anywhere else that it is okay to pee on every fence, to play music as loud as possible all day and all night, dress up in animal costumes or just don't dress up at all (read: naked) and have alcohol for breakfast, lunch, dinner and whenever. She allows you to do all that and more, and she likes it. That's what makes her.

She makes you do things you wouldn't usually do like the things described above and she gives you courage to sit down in camps with people you don't know or invite people you don't know to sit down in your camp. You give of your beer or whatever you have to offer to share stories, smile and sing songs with someone you will never see again. This year we, together with some random passers-by, dug a hole and buried a time capsule in Roskildes fields.

The Roskilde fields must have seen it all, and we all see things we have never seen before when she opens her fields to us. Every year.

It is weird how you can't sleep at home if you hear a clock ticking or water dripping, but at Roskilde you can fall asleep to music you don't even like and that is so loud that you might as well be sleeping on top of the speakers.

The music, that's was brings us all to festivals, right? The parties that never stops. The concerts with artists you have been waiting months to see, and then end up behind a wall a people that are two heads taller then you so you can't see anything. But you still have the time of your life dancing and singing along to songs you don't know with people you just met.

I never thought I'd be a girl for festivals. Going to sleep in a cold tent at night, waking up in a sauna in the morning, every morning for a week. Going days without showering and a week without putting makeup on even though you are out in public with so many people all day. Not having internet connection, electricity, or even clean clothes. Yes, I am a material girl, but at Roskilde I don't need all that and that makes me need her even more.

Roskilde, I can't wait to see you again.

Roskilde Wedding of Christine & Øystein

This years Roskilde Festival was very special because I got to go to a wedding on the Orange Stage! It was a perfect festival wedding. The grooms short sleeve shirt and orange tie, the brides dress, hair and shoes fit perfectly. She looked so gorgeous and they both looked so happy. The ceremony was held on the Orange Stage and then we had champagne and strawberries backstage, and drinks at Gringo Bar. The fact that we where on that stage was off course the highlight of the day. It will never be the same looking up on all the stars like Rihanna, Metallica and so on performing there, knowing I too have been on that stage.

Congratulations to the bride and groom!
Thank you for letting me take part of your celebration, it was awesome!

Rihanna at the Orange Scene - Roskilde

I have been waiting for this day ever since we got our tickets. Today is the day Riri enters the Orange scene at Roskilde! I can not guarantee good photos from this concert, because my focus will be on enjoying this gorgeous lady. Girl crush deluxe. I'll probably try to post photos on instagram during the night so check @jeanettemarie to see my happy face singing along to probably every song!

There Is A Party At Our Bar, Everybody Put Your Glasses Up

I planned several posts before I left so that my blog won't be completely dead while I'm gone. I am not a big fan of blogging from my cellphone because I haven't figured out how to get the photos to adopt to the size of the page. If I figure out how to do that than I will off course blog from the phone, but until then you can follow me on instagram @jeanettemarie for updates!

Here are some photos from Roskilde Festival 2011/2012 with Camp Grønn. They are all taken with iPhone, but this year I have my beloved camera with me so I hope to get some great photos. Can't wait to get home and upload them all! No, but seriously, I don't want to leave. In two days we are going to the Roskilde-wedding and I hope I can get close enough to take some beautiful pictures of the bride and groom!

If there is something you want to ask me about our times at the festival, do leave a comment!

The Bar of Camp Grønn - or Parts of it

When we left the boys yesterday the bar looked like this. The others leave one day later than Raven and I so I can't wait to see how the bar looks when they arrive. Here they were concentrating about the electrical stuff such as speakers, light, computer and off course how to power it all. Stuff that I have no clue about!

They have been working hard on this bar for days now because they changed all of the technical stuff inside it since we had some difficulties last year. Poor bar, we were hard on you last year.. But we won't be any nicer this year! It is not only our bar and sound system, it is also our own little stage that we dance on. I will post an instagram picture of the bar when we are all set at the Roskilde Festival. Just check out #campgrønn at instagram, and you'll probably see some people dancing on top of it too!

I am such an instagram-addict! So I am trying not to post insta-posts here too often and instead I'll gather them every once in a while in a big photo post. I will however post a Roskilde post with instagram photos when I come home.
We have a lot of time on our hands on the festival so I am going to check and update my instagram everyday. I might also need some new instagram accounts to look at so:
Leave your instagram and I'll check it out!

Vacation Time: Come on, Let's Celebrate!

I just came home from work and now it's vacation time! I am so happy, but so tired. Haha. I managed to wash my makeup brushes before work this morning, now I just have to figure out what makeup I am going to bring. I don't usually wear makeup when I'm there, but this year we are going to a wedding at the Orange Stage. The beautiful Christine Tallulah (Weight of the world) married her soul mate this summer and they are having a second ceremony at the Roskilde Festival during the warm up days. I can't wait!

But most of all I can't wait to get down there and feel the orange feeling grow while waiting in line to get in and grab the best camping spots. I don't run though, the boys do and I watch over the heavier stuff until they have started to set up the camp. This year we are only two girls in our camp and eight boys. Well, I've always been "one of the guys" so it's going to be awesome either way!

The first year I went to the Roskilde Festival I really did not think that it was for me. I even though I wasn't going back, but I did and I'm glad I did. The feeling of not having to be somewhere at a certain time is so liberating. At home all we do is race the clock, but at Roskilde we just watch as the sun glides by on the sky and know that time is ticking while we are having the time of our lives not caring about it. The day is turning into night and vice versa, and we have no worries what so ever. Unless it rains, then we have to make sure the bar is dry, and all of our stuff off course. I really hope we don't get too much rain!

We live in Camp Grønn btw, or Camp Green when you translate it. You can follow our hashtag on instagram #campgrønn during the festival. There are not a lot of pictures there yet, but I promise you they will come! Btw, these pictures are not from the festival, but I will plan some posts with pictures from last year that will come out while I am down there. Now we are heading out to help the guys working on the bar. Not that I do much, but it is interesting to watch the boys work and listen to their ideas!

Have a great evening everyone!
